Lake Tyler, Texas
The 2005 HGTV Dream House is a sweeping mansion built on the shores of Lake Tyler in Texas. The 6,500 square foot house has direct access to the lake waters. Not only that, but there is also a second house directly on the lake. Dream-worthy amenities include a master bedroom with its own screened-in porch with a jacuzzi tub, a tree-house style kids' bedroom, and a separate dock house. There is a beautiful pool area with outside fireplace, limestone columns and view of the lake.
This home is completely different from the one in 2004. I like both! Whereas the Dream Home from 2004 has an airy, light and romantic feel to it, this home features earthy, woodsy tones that bring the outdoors in. The designer, Linda Woodrum, designed a house that feels warm and cozy in spite of its huge rooms. The furniture is comfortable and create a relaxed atmosphere.
Kitchen:
Open to the great room, the kitchen is defined by not only the creamy limestone and shiny stainless steel appliances, but by interior designer Linda Woodrum's choices as well. "Because of the rusticness of that stone," Woodrum explains, "it seemed like it would be fun to have cabinets that are open ... very simple and plain. And it's a very highly-functional kitchen."
This Texas-sized walk-in pantry provides crucial storage next to the kitchen. I would absolutely LOVE having this space in my kitchen!
Master Bedroom:
The master bedroom is located in its own building connected through a breezeway. The earth tones and rich fabrics of this room make it serene getaway. The sitting area overlooks the lake. All I need is a good book and a latte!
Guest suite:
Dream Home 2005 is begging for guests, and they'll feel right at home in the guest suite, a comfy hideaway with convenient access to the swimming pool and entertainment room. The suite is divided into sleeping and sitting areas to give visitors the chance to stretch out and relax, awash in the casual elegance of the green-and-cream color palette.
The Bunkhouse:
On the top floor there's a wonderful area for kids with a Western theme.
Outside:
Challenged by a topography of patios, terraces and retaining walls, landscape architect Alan King created a series of outdoor rooms, including the swimming pool terrace and dining area with its dramatic limestone arbor and fireplace.
Dock house:
Calm serenity awaits you or your guests in the dock house. What a place to watch the sunset.
